If you somehow don't like this oven thing (...how could you?!? ;-) ), there are now other ways to charge your mobile when you're of-the-grid.
Still the network signal remains the weak point, but isn't the nPower PEG an absolutely cool outdoor gadget?
According to
Wired this 400g device produces enough energy from a 11 minute walk to do a 1 minute phone call over GSM... (there's already a Wired review online, too)
...and if you want to listen to your iPod on your way, you'll have to keep on walking... ;-)
Another interesting idea - unfortunately it's not in the stores, yet - is about an photovoltaic fabric for tents.
Look at this concept:
- Integrated lights (...or "glow"),
- wireless(!) control and - last, but not least:
- a *heated groundshield*!
Awesome!
...so for your future tent you will not only have to pay attention to the wind direction, but also the sun direction... ;-)
